Propagation Delay 𝝉PHL, 𝝉PLH
The dynamic performance of a logic-circuit family is characterized by the propagation delay of its basic inverter. The inverter propagation delay (𝝉P) is defined as the average of these two quantities:

𝝉PHL low-to-high propagation delay
𝝉PLH high-to-low propagation delay
The shorter the propagation delay, the higher the speed at which the logic-circuit family can be operated.
